Etro’s 2012 spring-summer collection has the rhythm, freshness and all the complexity of jazz. Notes that contrast with one another are grafted onto a seemingly linear and simple base line, creating completely new harmonies. Inspiration drawn from the avant-gardes of the first decades of the twentieth century, namely Futurism and Constructivism, meet with Paisley, pared down to its very essence. Veronica Etro has played around with the idea of composition and decomposition: she has imagined a collection that mainly involves fluid dresses with forms as pure as canvases, which can, however, also be the result of different elements combined together. The waistline is never mapped out, and there are plenty of crossed-over braces and V-necklines, true and false alike. The richness is created by the close-knit dialogue between the prints, obtained with processes inspired by the decoupages of Fortunato Depero which define the silhouette.source
